Hotel Trends Poland & CEE 2021 : Gilles Clavie honored with the title of Hotelier of the Decade 2011-2021
Gilles Clavie, CEO of AccorInvest, was honored with the «Hoteliers of the decade» award by Hotelarz magazine during a gala ceremony at the end of the Hotel Trends Poland and CEE 2021, held in Warsaw, on Thursday 23 September. Hotel Trends Poland and CEE is one of the most important events dedicated to the hotel industry in Europe. This event brings together decision-makers from the world of Polish hotels but also many investors and leading hotel managers from Europe’s biggest places.
Before taking over the management of the AccorInvest Group, Gilles Clavie was the CEO of the Orbis Group for 7 years. This Polish group, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with 73 hotels and more than 4,000 employees, is present in 6 Eastern European countries (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Romania and Lithuania). Under the leadership of Gilles Clavie, Orbis entered a new chapter of its development in 2019, becoming the largest Hotel Investment Group in Poland and Eastern Europe, and thus strengthening its leading position in the region. At the same time, the Group was rewarded by the most prestigious titles from Poland and Eastern Europe, notably for its performance on the energy front, its transparency, its CSR approach or the development of strong brands and its concept of hospitality.
Since 2020, the Group has been owned by AccorInvest, making it the leader in the European hotel market. It was at this time that Gilles Clavie took up his duties as Chief Executive Officer of AccorInvest without abandoning Orbis, since he still sits on the Group’s supervisory board.
As head of the Orbis Group, Gilles Clavie had already been named “Personality of the year” in 2015 by Hotelarz magazine and awarded among the “20 most efficient CEOs of the Warsaw Stock Exchange” (index mWIG40) by the Harvard Business Review Polska & TMS Brokers.
For Gilles Clavié « This award reflects a great collaborative spirit, I dedicate this distinction to all the employees who have accompanied me throughout my career within the Group and who continue to invest in its deployment ».
