The renovation of the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse was completed at the end of 2021. This major investment strengthens AccorInvest’s position as a leading player in the hospitality industry of tomorrow. The Group adds to its Parisian portfolio a place where guests and employees really feel at home.

As hotel owner, investor and operator, AccorInvest has largely invested in the strategic assets of its portfolio (838 hotels in 27 countries) over the past four years, in order to meet the new hospitality expectations of its guests and make sure they receive an exceptional welcome and quality of service. An example of this approach is the enhancement of the potential of the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse: a 20 million euro renovation project.
The renovation project, executed by the teams of AccorInvest, its partner Accor, and the Jean-Philippe Nuel studio – an international signature in interior design – places people at the heart of the project and perfectly illustrates the Group’s vision of positive hospitality.

A hospitality experience which goes far beyond a hotel stay
Our guests no longer go to the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse just to stay there. The 257, rue de Vaugirard hotel has been completely redesigned to offer a true lifestyle experience. In particular, the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse proposes an enlarged F&B (Food and Beverage) offer, attractive for clientele of regulars, ranging from local residents to the “food lovers” of the French capital. One can have dinner at the Trattoria Quindici of Chef Denny Imbroisi (former sous-chef of Alain Ducasse at the Jules Verne), share a pleasant moment around one of Chef mixologist Matthias Giroud’s cocktails at the Ilvolo bar, or work remotely for a few hours at the Quindici Caffé, a place in its own right located on the first floor, with its own entrance, and which contributes to anchoring the hotel in the Paris Vaugirard district.

A place to live for our guests and our employees

Create a real place to live: such was the roadmap given to all parties involved in the renovation project led by AccorInvest, starting with Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel. The choice of materials, colors, furniture, decoration… everything was designed to give the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse a unique identity, immediately recognizable by its clientele. Other differentiating elements contribute to this identity: omnipresent nature in all forms, modular spaces (suites that can be transformed into meeting rooms), and the “Nest”, a structure imagined by Jean-Philippe Nuel to spark the Ilvolo roof top, a hybrid space combining bar, terrace and meeting space.

Whilst this large-scale renovation encompassed both the façade of the 4-star hotel and all of the rooms and common areas, the work actually began with the staff areas in March 2019. This approach is in line with the Group’s commitment to improve the working conditions and quality of life of our hotel employees. The project team sought ergonomist advice and took into account the expectations and needs expressed by the employees. The kitchen, rest area, dining room and offices were thus completely redesigned to provide more comfort and well-being. The false ceilings were removed to gain height, partitions were knocked down to provide more space, and artificial light wells were installed to create a staff area halfway between a Silicon Valley start-up and a family cocoon.

“The employees tell me that they feel different,” says Sandrine Leblan, the hotel General Manager. And it’s true that I find some of them transformed by this renovation, which is proving to be a real motivating factor. They have a strong desire to do well, to surpass themselves so that that everyone feels good at the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse. For me, the result goes beyond my expectations”.

Digitalization to support hospitality

This renovation opens a new era for the hotel General Manager Sandrine Leblan and her teams, but also for AccorInvest, which is eager to enhance the hotel’s full potential.

The Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse is already a pilot hotel for the deployment of the digitalization program led by AccorInvest in its hotels. The Group is testing new digital solutions to improve the customer path before, during and after his stay at the hotel. The aim is to use digital technology to strengthen and enrich interactions between the hotel teams and the guests, by reducing the administrative aspects of these interactions and focusing on what matters most – the human aspect – through listening and exchange. The goal is also to get to know each guest better and identify his or her personal expectations, in order to provide optimum support throughout each guest’s experience.

As Gilles Clavié, the AccorInvest Chief Executive Officer, indicates: “This renovation is both a strategic investment for AccorInvest and the culmination of a process which involved each one of our team members.
